About Summit Reservoir Gravel Ride

If you’re looking for an easier spin, a mellow day with the family, or if you’re new to gravel riding, this loop with minimal elevation gain around Lost Canyon is a great opportunity to get some scenic miles in. Park in the Summit Reservoir parking lot and head north for a sweet gravel ride around Lost Canyon Reservoir.

Travel Tips

  • Stop in Dolores north of the start for snacks and other supplies.
  • If you’re coming from the west, Cortez is your best option for picking up supplies.
  • If you’re coming from Durango in the east, you can load up in Durango or Mancos.
  • Hit up Absolute Bakery in Mancos for pre-ride fuel, and stop at the brewery or cidery after your ride.
  • Restrooms are available at Summit Reservoir (seasonal).
  • Plan to spend some time at Summit Reservoir for boating, relaxing and fishing for rainbow trout, black crappie and largemouth bass. Note: Summit Reservoir is a State Wildlife Area (SWA), a Colorado SWA pass is required, and anglers over 16 years old will need a Colorado fishing license.
