Exciting Bicycle Colorado events planned for 2017!

events-photo-collage

With 2016 quickly wrapping up (where does the time go?), it seems like a great opportunity to share our new and improved roster of events to be hosted by Bicycle Colorado next year.

With the addition of an events manager, Claire Peters, to our staff, we have increased capacity to do more for our members and advance our mission to improve bicycling for everyone who rides in our state. We hope you’ll join us at one or all of these events. Mark your calendars for the following:

Moving People Forward conference – Monday, February 6, Denverbc-moving-people-forward-logo-3color-onwhite-01-01

This new event will look to the future of transportation in Colorado’s cities and communities. Within the next 20 years, transportation in Colorado will completely change as we know it. This one-day conference will dive deep into present-day mobility issues to create collaborative advancements that change the way people move. While flying cars might still be a distant dream, driverless cars are not. Beyond that, what role will the bicycle play in the future of transportation? Are you ready for the changes? Learn all about this conference here.

Lobby Day event: Bike Day at the Capitol -Wednesday, March 1, Capitol building

Gather with like-minded advocates to show our state legislators the importance of bicycling in Colorado. We will gather in the morning and meet with as many state senators and representatives as possible. It’s a great, non-intimidating way to get involved politically at the local level and help to bring change to where you live. Additional details to follow.

Bicycle Colorado Gala – Friday, April 28, DenverGALA_button

This is when we all get to let our hair down and have some fun! Our annual Gala Celebration fundraiser is a chance to get dressed up a bit and celebrate the official kick-off to the cycling season. We’ll host our event at the beautiful DaVita building near Union Station, on the 14th floor with amazing city and mountain views. The event features fabulous items in our silent and live auctions, fun networking, delicious food and an open beer and wine bar. Tickets on sale in early 2017.

Colorado Bicycle Summit – Fall of 2017, Denver, details coming soonSummitLOGO-color-nd

We have hosted a successful statewide bicycle summit six years in a row and don’t plan to stop now! Following yet another sold-out summit this February, we decided to make some changes to the program to keep things fresh. One change is to make the summit a stand-alone event and separate it out from the Lobby Day, allowing us more flexibility on timing since our state legislature only meets January – May. We will host this event next fall, likely in a new venue. With (hopefully) warmer weather than February—this is Colorado so we’ll see—we’d like to incorporate some time on two wheels for everyone.

Colorado Gives Day – Monday, December 6, 2016

OK, so this isn’t quite in 2017, but I’m sneaking it in here. Colorado Gives Day is a great opportunity for Colorado residents to give where they live. We hope you’ll consider donating to Bicycle Colorado and helping us reach our fundraising goal of $30K. You can even schedule your donation, today.

We’re thrilled to see so many people out enjoying (and often rediscovering the joy of) riding a bike right now, and we’re asking ALL bicyclists to do their part to prevent the spread of #covid19 by wearing a mask or other face covering when out for a ride. Doing so keeps you, your loved ones, those around you, and all Coloradans safer while helping reduce stress on our medical system. If you still need a mask, click the link in our bio to pre-order one now and support our advocacy work! Thanks so much to everyone who has already purchased, and to @primalwear for supporting our efforts over the years. Ride on.
  • #BicycleColorado volunteers and staff members spent time today helping @denverurbangardens and @denverfoodrescue deliver “Grow a Garden” food boxes to home-bound families in Denver—via bike! Supporting our community on two wheels makes for a great way to spend a sunny day. Many thanks to our friends @ddchen47, David M., and @juggernautcargo for your help! Head to denverfoodrescue.org or dug.org to learn more about these great local organizations. #rideyourbike
  • Tonight the #BicycleColorado team celebrated Stacey, our outgoing Development Director, with a virtual happy hour. Stacey has been an absolute rockstar for BC. We’re sad to see her leave, but thrilled for her as she heads out on a new adventure (hopefully in the #BikeAdvocacy space!) in North Carolina. Please join us in wishing her well!
