Share the Road Bill signed by Governor
The Share the Road Bill was signed into law by Governor Ritter June 3, 2007, at the Elephant Rock Cycling Festival.
The bill (SB 67) authorizes issuance of the new Colorado “Share the Road” license plate to those who pay the appropriate licensing fees plus a one-time donation fee of $25 payable to Bicycle Colorado. A certificate is then issued by Bicycle Colorado, with the donation fee going towards a bicycle education and crash prevention fund.
The bill sponsors, Senator Greg Brophy (R-District 1) and Representative Terrance Carroll (D-Denver), successfully led the bill through two committees and the full House and Senate votes.
