Highlands Ranch middle schoolers ride the trails

We loved this story in the Highlands Ranch Herald, which we think shows that enthusiasm for riding a bicycle lives on into middle school.

Linda Homstad is a teacher at Rocky Heights Middle School in Highlands Ranch who started a mountain bike club for students after being inspired by another school’s club. Homstad told the Herald that she was surprised when 44 students came to the first club meeting. She had hoped for 10.

She recruited fellow teacher Cullen Hilsendager to be a club sponsor, plus parent volunteers to help out with the club’s twice weekly rides in the Highlands Ranch Community Association’s Backcountry Wilderness Area trails. Beginners ride on Mondays, and more advanced students ride on Wednesdays.
