We are excited to see you at the Sunday slow ride social!
This fun slow ride be an exciting introduction to the Colorado Bicycle Summit and an informative way to explore Denver’s new, improved and even still-needed bicycle infrastructure. Come ride and then clink glasses with other attendees, bicycle enthusiasts and summit speakers before the event begins.
Arrive and sign waivers: 3:45 p.m. – REI, 1416 Platte Street, Denver 80202
Ride starts: 4:00 p.m. – REI
Meet near the entrance of REI and Starbucks. Look for our Bicycle Colorado tent located on the path between Starbucks and the Platte River Bridge (green) on the Cherry Creek Trail to start your ride.
The slow ride follows a four-mile-long route through Downtown Denver. Expect your ride to last between 30 and 45 minutes. The ride concludes with drinks at Denver Beer Company.
Event Ends: 7:00 pm – Denver Beer Company, 1695 Platte St, Denver 80202 (a few blocks north of REI)
Getting there: Bring your bike, helmet and lock. Easily accessible off the South Platte River trail.
Need a bike? B-cycle has you covered. See below for instructions on how to get your 24-hour discounted B-cycle pass for the summit slow ride.
Metered street parking – Free on Sundays
REI Ticket Parking Lots – First two hours are free, pay per hour thereafter
The route: A great way to meet fellow summit attendees before Monday, this four-mile casual ride will highlight examples of Denver’s bicycle infrastructure and Bicycle Colorado’s advocacy successes. While written directions will be provided, you can also access a digital version of the route by downloading the Strava mobile app.
Volunteers and Bicycle Colorado staff will be riding along the route or stationed at various locations to help assist with route finding. Also look for route signage! If you are ever in doubt, please stop, pull over and look at your phone and the written directions to double check your steps. If all else fails, make your way to the Denver Beer Company, our final destination, where we will meet you for a toast.
What to wear: While this is a slow ride, please come prepared to make your own ride comfortable. Weather can be unpredictable, so we suggest wearing closed toed shoes, layers, sunglasses and sunscreen. Make sure to bring water and a bike lock, and pack a raincoat. Please note that helmets are required. If you will be joining us at Denver Beer Co., you may wish to bring your wallet and ID to purchase food or drinks.
Note: There is a Denver Broncos game at 2:25 p.m. on Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Please take extra caution along the route and leave extra travel time as both foot and car traffic will be heavier in downtown Denver on game days. Go Broncos!
Please bike slowly, carefully and on the bike paths/trails provided for safety.
Most importantly: have fun!
