Roll Massif reimagines cycling with eight Colorado sportives

Roll Massif expects 15-20,000 cyclists to ride one of their sportives in Colorado this year. With their collection of road, gravel and mountain bike events—including existing institutions like Copper Triangle and Tour of the Moon as well as new sportives like Wild Horse Gravel in De Beque and Crooked Gravel in Winter Park—Roll Massif’s sportives center on an immersive community experience for riders in beautiful and diverse parts of Colorado.

From riding fresh new pavement in the Colorado National Monument to the rolling gravel of Castlewood Canyon State Park to the alpine delight of Winter Park and Copper Mountain, their rides have you covered.

Our road, gravel and mountain bike sportives offer the perfect balance of camaraderie and challenge. With timed segments and varying options of distance and difficulty, Roll Massif sportives are fun for riders new and old.

Chandler Smith

Co-founder, Roll Massif

The road and gravel sportives feature timed segments that riders can take as seriously or as frivolously as they like. As the sportives are not races, all riders are encouraged to take advantage of the ample feed zones and postcard-worthy photo opportunities.

And, to encourage youth riders, all kids 18 and under ride free in the six road and gravel sportives offered by Roll Massif.

Roll Massif also offers two 12-hour mountain bike races, Sunrise to Sunset Elephant Rock and Sunrise to Sunset Winter Park. Although these can be raced solo, most prefer the team relay format for a fun day of hot laps. Both races benefit the Colorado High School Cycling League.

We are excited to help grow cycling with gorgeous courses, professional organization and a fun, welcoming environment for all riders.

Scott Olmsted

Co-founder, Roll Massif

While the brand is new, the team behind it is not. Co-founders Chandler Smith and Scott Olmsted have a combined 30 years experience putting on the biggest cycling events in Colorado—including many of those now in the Roll Massif fold.

Together, the pair’s events have raised more than $2 million for charity, with funds going to organizations like us and the Davis Phinney Foundation.

Registration for all eight Roll Massif sportives is open now on RollMassif.com. Riders who want to save time and money can buy a Pedal Pass for multiple events. The Pedal Pass comes in 3-Pack, 4-Pack, VIP Pass and Massif Pass options.

We’re thrilled to see so many people out enjoying (and often rediscovering the joy of) riding a bike right now, and we’re asking ALL bicyclists to do their part to prevent the spread of #covid19 by wearing a mask or other face covering when out for a ride. Doing so keeps you, your loved ones, those around you, and all Coloradans safer while helping reduce stress on our medical system. If you still need a mask, click the link in our bio to pre-order one now and support our advocacy work! Thanks so much to everyone who has already purchased, and to @primalwear for supporting our efforts over the years. Ride on.
  • #BicycleColorado volunteers and staff members spent time today helping @denverurbangardens and @denverfoodrescue deliver “Grow a Garden” food boxes to home-bound families in Denver—via bike! Supporting our community on two wheels makes for a great way to spend a sunny day. Many thanks to our friends @ddchen47, David M., and @juggernautcargo for your help! Head to denverfoodrescue.org or dug.org to learn more about these great local organizations. #rideyourbike
  • Tonight the #BicycleColorado team celebrated Stacey, our outgoing Development Director, with a virtual happy hour. Stacey has been an absolute rockstar for BC. We’re sad to see her leave, but thrilled for her as she heads out on a new adventure (hopefully in the #BikeAdvocacy space!) in North Carolina. Please join us in wishing her well!
