Ride with Roll Massif for camaraderie, challenge and community

Roll Massif sportives are back for 2021—take your pick of adventure from the Front Range to alpine terrain, high desert to the canyons of Western Colorado and more. With their collection of eight road, gravel and mountain bike events—including Tour of the Moon, Crooked Gravel in Winter Park, and two 12-hour mountain bike races—Roll Massif’s sportives center on an immersive community experience for riders in beautiful and diverse parts of Colorado.

The gravel sportives feature timed segments that riders can take as seriously or as frivolously as they like. As the sportives are not races, all riders are encouraged to take advantage of the ample feed zones and postcard-worthy photo opportunities. Roll Massif’s two 12-hour mountain bike races, Sunrise to Sunset Elephant Rock and Sunrise to Sunset Winter Park, can be raced solo, though most prefer the team relay format for a fun day of hot laps.

And, to encourage youth riders, all kids 18 and under ride free in the six road and gravel sportives offered by Roll Massif.

While these in-person sportives are preparing to invite riders to the course, Roll Massif recognizes that we are still in the midst of a pandemic. Members of the bicycling community have varying degrees of comfort in attending in-person events so this year, six of their eight sportives will have accompanying “virtual rides!” Virtual ride participants will receive an event t-shirt and access to a leader board to track your miles. Complete the ride and receive a virtual badge and certificate for your accomplishment.

Roll Massif’s sportives are not only fun, challenging and everything in between, but a portion of all registration proceeds for each ride goes toward supporting local and state nonprofit organizations, including Bicycle Colorado! Other organizations supported by Roll Massif’s sportives include the Davis Phinney Foundation, the Colorado High School Cycling League and environmental and community-oriented nonprofits in the communities where the rides take place.

Registration for all eight Roll Massif sportives and the virtual rides is open now on RollMassif.com

Exciting news from Roll Massif this year: Their parent company, Pocket Outdoor Media (POM), has added five amazing brands to the family: Outside Magazine, Outside TV, Gaia GPS, AthleteReg, and Peloton Magazine. And the parent company name changed from Pocket Outdoor Media to Outside.

Riders who want to save time and money can buy a Pedal Pass for multiple events. The Pedal Pass comes in 2-Pack, 3-Pack, 4-Pack, and VIP Pass options. New this year is the inclusion of two third-party rides in El Tour de Mesa and El Tour de Tucson.

Are you a Bicycle Colorado member or contributor? You have access to a $10 off discount code for all Roll Massif events, including their two VIP Experiences. The code is good through April 30, 2021. Please email erica@bicyclecolorado.org if you want the code!

We’re thrilled to see so many people out enjoying (and often rediscovering the joy of) riding a bike right now, and we’re asking ALL bicyclists to do their part to prevent the spread of #covid19 by wearing a mask or other face covering when out for a ride. Doing so keeps you, your loved ones, those around you, and all Coloradans safer while helping reduce stress on our medical system. If you still need a mask, click the link in our bio to pre-order one now and support our advocacy work! Thanks so much to everyone who has already purchased, and to @primalwear for supporting our efforts over the years. Ride on.
  • #BicycleColorado volunteers and staff members spent time today helping @denverurbangardens and @denverfoodrescue deliver “Grow a Garden” food boxes to home-bound families in Denver—via bike! Supporting our community on two wheels makes for a great way to spend a sunny day. Many thanks to our friends @ddchen47, David M., and @juggernautcargo for your help! Head to denverfoodrescue.org or dug.org to learn more about these great local organizations. #rideyourbike
  • Tonight the #BicycleColorado team celebrated Stacey, our outgoing Development Director, with a virtual happy hour. Stacey has been an absolute rockstar for BC. We’re sad to see her leave, but thrilled for her as she heads out on a new adventure (hopefully in the #BikeAdvocacy space!) in North Carolina. Please join us in wishing her well!
