A letter to our members from Dan Grunig, executive director

Dear Bicycle Colorado Members:

After 15 years directing Bicycle Colorado, I am moving on to pursue new challenges and adventures. As I make this announcement, I first need to thank you for the opportunity to pursue such an exciting and fulfilling job–making it easier and safer to ride a bicycle in Colorado.

Like you, my connection to Bicycle Colorado began as a member and volunteer. I was a guest at the first Gala and even volunteered to direct traffic at VeloSwap. When offered the job of executive director, I would have never guessed all the joys and accomplishments the future would bring.

While I am moving on, I hope you will remain steadfast. Your membership support is changing bicycling in Colorado for the better every day. Over the past years, together we overturned bike bans, improved road designs, secured additional bicycle infrastructure funding and changed laws to protect people who bike and walk and educated children and adults on road safety.

I would like give special thanks to everyone that has served on Bicycle Colorado’s Board of Directors and to our diligent staff team. These folks put countless hours toward achieving our mission and putting ideas into action. It takes a team effort with lots of partners to achieve our lofty goals.

We still have much to do and I will be working hard through the end of the year and beyond. Bicycle Colorado will need your continued partnership. Thank you for all your help over these many years and look forward to seeing you out on a ride.

All my best,

Dan Grunig

Dan,
Thank you for all your efforts and successes at the helm of Bicycle Colorado. Your leaving some big shoes to be filled. I hope to pedal a few miles with you during your pursuit of adventures. Your professionalism will be missed!! 🚴
PS: Don’t think about starting a bicycle tour company unless you want to run another nonprofit 🚵🏿

We’re thrilled to see so many people out enjoying (and often rediscovering the joy of) riding a bike right now, and we’re asking ALL bicyclists to do their part to prevent the spread of #covid19 by wearing a mask or other face covering when out for a ride. Doing so keeps you, your loved ones, those around you, and all Coloradans safer while helping reduce stress on our medical system. If you still need a mask, click the link in our bio to pre-order one now and support our advocacy work! Thanks so much to everyone who has already purchased, and to @primalwear for supporting our efforts over the years. Ride on.
  • #BicycleColorado volunteers and staff members spent time today helping @denverurbangardens and @denverfoodrescue deliver “Grow a Garden” food boxes to home-bound families in Denver—via bike! Supporting our community on two wheels makes for a great way to spend a sunny day. Many thanks to our friends @ddchen47, David M., and @juggernautcargo for your help! Head to denverfoodrescue.org or dug.org to learn more about these great local organizations. #rideyourbike
  • Tonight the #BicycleColorado team celebrated Stacey, our outgoing Development Director, with a virtual happy hour. Stacey has been an absolute rockstar for BC. We’re sad to see her leave, but thrilled for her as she heads out on a new adventure (hopefully in the #BikeAdvocacy space!) in North Carolina. Please join us in wishing her well!
