Adams 12 adds bike fleet for Safe Routes education
The Adams 12 school district recently invested in a fleet of 12 bicycles to help physical education teachers teach students how to ride bikes and bike safety.
On Jan. 23, Bicycle Colorado’s Safe Routes to School team met with about 15 district PE teachers to refresh their training.
“Teachers in Adams 12 now have the resources to set up annual bicycling/pedestrian lessons in their own classrooms,” said Jenna Berman, Bicycle Colorado education director. “Adams 12 is a model for the state. It is so dedicated to this program that it used local funds to purchase its own bike fleet.”
Bicycle Colorado and Adams 12 have worked together since 2009, reaching 18 elementary schools and more than 9,700 students.
